The Line — Terms of Use

Effective date: September 2, 2026 · Contact: uzi.menetzir@gmail.com

1. What The Line is

The Line is a mobile app for synchronous, one-to-one text conversation. You look someone up, their device rings, and if they answer you both see each other typing live. Text is not stored: what you write fades on screen and the conversation is deleted when the line closes. There is no inbox, no history and no way to retrieve a conversation after it ends.

Because conversations are not retained, The Line cannot recover anything you said, for you or for anyone else. Do not use it as a record of anything you need to keep.

2. Who may use it

You must be 13 or older to use The Line. If you sign in with a phone number, it must be a number you control.

3. Your account

You can use The Line either with a verified phone number or anonymously with a temporary handle. An anonymous handle is released when you leave and does not persist. A username you claim is yours while your account exists and is released if you delete it.

You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you lose control of your phone number, delete your account or contact us.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use The Line to harass, threaten, impersonate, or send unlawful content to anyone. Do not use it to send unsolicited bulk messages. Do not attempt to interfere with the service, other people's accounts, or the systems that run it.

There is no tolerance for abusive or objectionable use. An account used that way can be removed from The Line.

If you do not want to hear from someone, you can block them; blocked users cannot ring you, and cannot place a line to you at all.

5. Reporting someone

You can report another account from an incoming line, from a line that is live, and from the menu beside anyone you have looked up. Blocking and reporting are separate: you can do either, or both.

A report tells us which account you are reporting, the reason you chose, anything you choose to write yourself, and when it happened. Because The Line keeps no transcript of what anybody types, a report does not contain, and cannot contain, what either of you said.

Reports are reviewed by a person, and we act on them where the Acceptable use section above has been broken, up to and including removing the reported account. We do not promise a response time, and we do not monitor lines — nothing is read unless it is reported, and even then there is no conversation for us to read.

6. Availability

The Line is provided as-is and may be unavailable, interrupted or changed at any time. Delivery of an incoming line depends on push notification services operated by Apple and Google and on your device's own settings; a call may not reach you.

7. Ending your use

You may delete your account at any time from the app's settings. Deletion removes your directory record, your username claim, your contact-discovery index entry, your push tokens and your block list from our servers. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

8. No warranty and limitation of liability

The Line is provided without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including loss of a conversation that was never retained in the first place.

9. Changes

These terms may change. The effective date above reflects the latest version, and continuing to use The Line after a change means you accept it.
